YSO Cinema Club: Inside Sydney's Girls-Only Movie Night at the Devil Wears Prada 2 Premiere

Your Slice Of is a Sydney cinema club built on a simple idea: women coming together to watch a film with the same ritual that men reserve for game day. We went along to the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, and it might be the best girls' night format Sydney has right now (especially if you're looking to make new friends).
The concept: a girls' night with a proper format
YSO turns a cinema night into a full evening out with themed cocktails, a makeup station, time to mingle, then a gold class screening of the film itself. It's social, it's curated, and it's a low-effort way to meet other women in Sydney without the awkwardness of a traditional networking event.

The night: Devil Wears Prada 2 in gold class
On arrival we were handed a drinks voucher and the bar was pouring DWP2-themed cocktails - 'That's all', 'Groundbreaking' and 'Not Emily'. A makeup station by Napoleon Paris ran alongside the mingle hour, then a brief intro from Poppy before we filed into the gold class screen. Gold Class was the perfect venue - only around 20 seats per screen, recliners, the feeling of a huge living room and you could order more food and drink to your seat. But, included in the ticket, you'll find a pack of Maltesers, a box of salted popcorn and a goodie bag valued up to $250 (makeup, a clothing voucher and a makeup voucher) already waiting at your seat. Of course, both these were already devoured before the opening credits were finished.

Why it works
YSO solves a quiet problem in Sydney: it's surprisingly hard to find a low-pressure social community as an adult woman that isn't awkward dinner or drinks. The cinema format gives you the structure (a film), the social runway (mingle hour) and the takeaway (goodie bag) without anyone having to carry the conversation all night.
